Lucuma is an exotic bright yellow fruit that is native to the Andean Valley, that has been traditionally eaten by ancient Peruvians as a healthy sweetener. Lucuma is rich in antioxidants and is a source of vitamin C, calcium and beta-carotene, and is a great sugar replacement as it is low on the Glycemic Index. A maple-like flavour, lucuma powder can be added to ice cream, yoghurt, oatmeal, smoothies and as a sugar substitute in any baked good.
